This feature helps to encourage freelancers to reply to job invitations within 24 hours, increasing client satisfaction while decreasing time-to-hire. More responsive freelancers also ensures a healthier marketplace by increasing the likelihood that a freelancer is hired and the job is filled.
The following is displayed on the freelancer’s profile under “Availability” -
- < 24 hour response time
- < 3 day response time
- 3+ day response time
- Blank (client context) AND “Response time” (freelancer context)
Freelancers will see this tooltip adjacent to their score - “Your response time shows how often you respond to client invitations. Top freelancers accept or decline all invitations within 24 hours. Learn more.”
Clients will see one of three tooltips -
- “This freelancer responds to most invitations within 24 hours.”
- “This freelancer responds to most invitations within several days.”
- “This freelancer often takes several days to respond to invitations.”
Refrain from using the word “score” externally. Refer to it as an “indicator” OR “response time”.
These details are for internal use only as the number of invites needed to gain a response time indicator should not be shared with freelancers or clients.
FL has 10 or more invites in the last 90 days = we calculate:
Response rate - % of invitations responded to, not including those the client withdrew within a day
Response time:
- High - If they responded to more invites within a day than not (i.e. those where they didn’t respond or took more than a day, where the client didn’t withdraw within a day)
- Medium - If they responded to more invites within 3 days than not (i.e. those where they didn’t respond or took more than a day, where the client didn’t withdraw within a day)
Responsiveness levels:
- Within a day: Responded over 75% of the time, with “high” responsiveness (i.e. more likely to respond within a day than not)
- Within 3 days: Responded over 75% of the time, with “medium” responsiveness (i.e. more likely to respond within 3 days than not)
- Sometimes: Responded between 25% and 75% of the time
- Rarely: Responded less than 25% of the time
I see a new responsiveness score on my profile that was not there before, why?
In order to ensure a cohesive experience for both freelancers and clients, we’ve added responsiveness indicators to the profiles of all freelancers except those who have not received enough job invitations for us to calculate an accurate indicator.
Why don’t I have a responsiveness score on my profile?
If you don’t see a responsiveness indicator on your profile, it’s because we do not have enough invitations in the last 90 days to calculate an accurate indicator for you. A responsiveness indicator will appear after you receive and respond to more job invitations. Before you have an indicator, you can track how you’re doing on your My Stats page. Remember, top freelancers usually respond to job invitations within 24 hours.
How often does the responsiveness score update?
Your responsiveness indicator is based on how quickly you’ve replied to invitations in the last 90 days, and is updated daily.
How is the responsiveness score calculated?
Responsiveness indicators are calculated from your record of responding to job invitations in the last 90 days. The indicator draws from 1) whether or not you respond (top freelancers always respond by either accepting or declining) and 2) how quickly you do so (always respond within 24 hours). You can read more about responsiveness indicators in the Help Center.
