TR status is assessed every 24 hours and users must continue to meet the requirements to maintain status. Once they qualify, it can take up to 48 hours for their badge to display on their profile:
The FL/agency profile is the best place to see if TR status was achieved as OBO has a 24 hour delay.

How to achieve:
They usually have strong backgrounds in their fields and early success with Upwork clients. Rising Talent agencies are new agencies that either have strong backgrounds in their industries or were an agency started by Top Rated freelancers. New freelancers who qualify to become Rising Talent are invited via email. If they received an invite, they can follow the link in their email to take the Upwork Readiness Test and get their badge.
Expert-Vetted highlights talent that has gone through a thorough pre-screening process by experts in their field. They represent the top 1% of talent on Upwork.
How to achieve:
All Expert-Vetted freelancers and agencies are fully pre-screened to ensure high-quality and professionalism. Expert-Vetted is currently by invitation only, and is limited to certain skills. Available for Web, Mobile, Software Development; Design & Creative; and Sales & Marketing freelancers and agencies.

How to achieve:
Freelancers can get English verified on Upwork in two ways: 1) taking a test (including IELTS - English Proficiency Exam, Cambridge, and Duolingo, 2) getting rated fluent by the first 3 distinct clients (when ending their contracts).
Fluent English Verified Mark Internal KB
To help make sure Upwork is a professional, secure marketplace that clients, freelancers, and agencies can trust, we are moving toward requiring all freelancers to verify their identity.
How to achieve:
For a freelancer to receive an “Identity Verified” badge on their profile, they have to complete the two steps process of providing a government-issued ID that matches the information in their profiles and confirmation through video verification. Please do not offer any alternative way to get the IDV Badge like generating or offering FIVS.
The Diversity-Certified Badge helps equalize access to opportunity for US-based talent by showcasing supplier diversity certified talent to Enterprise Suite clients.
How to achieve:
The process can vary based on the agency that is awarding the certification. Typically, it includes interviews, providing documentation, an on-site visit, and a fee. Note: Upwork doesn’t award the certifications, we provide the Diversity-Certified Badge if you’ve earned certification from an outside group.
Freelancers will be able to use their Connects to add an availability badge to their profile and search result tile.
How to achieve:
The badge will require a certain number of Connects to add to a talent’s profile. Talent will only pay for the badge as long as they have it turned on. If they turn off the badge, they no longer will be charged Connects. In this way, talent can turn the badge on and off as they become more or less available for new work.

Who qualifies as a “veteran”?
Requirements can vary based on the country you served. Each may have unique requirements based on the time served, conflicts engaged in, etc. We rely on you to accurately self-report your veteran status.
Is my military veteran icon visible in search? Is there a search filter so clients can find me by it?
Clients will be able to see the icon when they visit your profile. At this time, the icon does not appear by your name in search results and clients cannot specifically search for veterans.
I was a member of Upwork’s U.S. Military Veterans Group, what happened to that group?
Upwork’s U.S.Military Veterans Group was discontinued and will be removed from your profile in the future. We created this new icon so you can still highlight your service, and those who served other countries can too.
I don’t see my exact branch of the military listed. Why?
We’ve tried to broadly group the branches of service based on what is most common globally. We’re open to feedback on how we can refine this list –– so please share any ideas!
