We ended our Talent Scout program on July 31, 2023, and are no longer accepting new freelancers and clients into the program. If customer is currently part of the program, they can continue to use Talent Scout billing after July 31, 2023. 

 

To help prepare for this change, the following is taking place:

  • June 29 - no new customers can enter the Talent Scout funnel (clients meeting with recruiters & freelancers applying)
  • June 30 - email communications to customers actively using Talent Scout
    • ~67 clients working with a recruiter to receive this email here
    • ~343 freelancers going through Talent Scout review to receive this email here
    • ~54 clients with active contract to receive this email here
    • ~3,341 active freelancers with skills certified will receive this email here
    • ~1,918 active freelancers without skills certified will receive this email here
  • June 30 - key entry point that mentions Talent Scout will be replaced with Consultations (homepage, top nav)
  • July 31 - Talent Scout no longer available; only billing services for existing contracts available.

Q: Why is Talent Scout no longer available?

A: At this time, we are committing our resources to innovate the best possible experience for our customers. We believe that this decision will allow us to focus our efforts on driving high-impact customer value. 

 

Q: If Talent Scout is no longer available, is Upwork no longer competing in the staffing space?

A: Upwork continues to remain competitive in the staffing space with our Enterprise Suite. Enterprise Suite is an end-to-end solution that helps large businesses source, hire, engage, and pay high-quality, expert-vetted talent. We remain committed to expanding our business through a best-in-class Enterprise offering. 

 

Client-facing

Q: How will I now find highly qualified candidates?

A: If you are seeking to hire talent within a short turnaround time, our Talent Marketplace will continue to give you access to the largest network of independent professionals. For more complex projects, our Enterprise offerings are available to provide recruiting assistance to high quality, proven talent. Our Talent Marketplace and Expert-Vetted solutions continue to allow talent to build rewarding relationships.

 

Q: Will Upwork continue to provide billing services?

A: We will provide continued support to active contracts with billing services and contract support until the contract expires.

 

Q: If I am a current Talent Scout client today, can I continue to use the services for hiring?

A: Yes, if you are a current Talent Scout client, you can continue to use the service. However, after July 31, 2023, only billing for existing contracts will be supported.

Q: How do I talk to someone about Enterprise Suite to see if it’s the right fit for me?

Q: If I have a skills certification, will I get to keep it?

A: Yes, skills certifications will be published on your freelancer profile, visible for all clients to see. 

 

Q: Will I have to pay a fee on future Talent Marketplace contracts?

A: As a freelancer on Upwork, you’ll pay a 10% fee on the earnings you make on Upwork. To learn more about Freelancer Service Fees, see this support article

 

Q: Will I continue receiving 0% fees on my current open Talent Scout contracts?

A: Yes, all Talent Scout contracts that are currently open will not be charged a service fee.
