A Certificate of Employment is an official document from an employer which is often required by institutions to process applications like loans (of any kind), tourist visas, credit cards; even for purchase of property. Upwork cannot provide freelancers this document as freelancers are not employed by Upwork, but they can access a Certificate of Earnings (CoE).

Freelancers can follow steps listed here: Certificate of Earnings

  • COE goes back 12 months from when generated.
  • If user pushes back saying that 12 months is not sufficient, escalate to EE.

For freelancers and agency owners who are requesting a COE outside of the time frame allotted on the platform, escalate to EE.

For Agency Freelancers requesting a COE, all earning information should be provided to the freelancer directly by the AO. EE will not provide a manual COE.
