As an Enterprise client, you pay a customized rate that we negotiate with you based on your individual needs.
Your Master Service Agreement (MSA) displays this rate and the details of your engagement with Upwork and a third-party staffing agency. Your program partner at Upwork can discuss the MSA with you and help you understand your costs.
Fees
The fees you pay include both the Upwork Payroll fee and either a standard service fee or a Bring Your Own (BYO) talent service fee, and other costs, if applicable.
Upwork Payroll fee
You’ll pay a third-party staffing agency a fee for Upwork Payroll Services. We apply this fee to the payments you make to freelancers, except if you are reimbursing them for expenses.
The fee covers employment-related costs such as background checks, administrative costs for health insurance plans, and tracking and complying with mandated leave, for example.
Standard service fee or Bring Your Own (BYO) talent service fee
We apply a standard service fee to freelancer payments and costs, including the Upwork Payroll fee, for engagements with freelancers you sourced from our platform.
We apply a BYO talent service fee to freelancer payments and costs, including the Upwork Payroll fee, for engagements with freelancers you brought to Upwork via a BYO invite.
Additional costs
You’re also responsible for any additional costs, such as overtime premium pay, expense reimbursements, and paid sick leave. Since health care premiums are cost-shared between the employee and staffing agency, you do not pay the cost of premiums.
Engagements outside the United States
We determine the costs and requirements of having an international payroll contract on a contract-by-contract basis.. Your contractual obligations and costs can vary from country to country.
